Crafted by elite furniture maker Theodore Alexander, this serpentine sideboard is an official reproduction from the celebrated Althorp Living History Collection—honoring the ancestral Spencer family estate (the childhood home of Princess Diana). Designed in the classic George III Sheraton tradition (circa 1790), the piece features a dramatic serpentine silhouette with book-matched flame mahogany and burl veneers. The face showcases intricate, crossbanded panels with elegantly shaped cartouche borders, flanked by carved floral rosettes and trailing bellflower details. The top has equally exceptional book-matched veneer with an elegant banded edge. The central section features a frieze drawer that glides open to reveal a removable, segmented, vibrant green baize-lined cutlery tray. Below it sits a deep, recessed apron drawer contoured to match the serpentine line. Two large, double-panel curved side cupboards swing open to reveal spaces as finely finished as the exterior and large enough to provide ample storage for fine china, decanters, or serving platters. The entire piece is elevated on six fluted, square tapering legs capped with neat spade feet. An exceptional piece of museum-quality craftsmanship, this reproduction captures the grandeur of an original 18th-century English heirloom.
