Premise: The series centered on the New York Smashers, a fictional American football team. Following a mysterious cosmic event called the "White Event," quarterback Jack "Mr. Magnificent" Magniconte gained superhuman strength and endurance. After a personal tragedy, he decided to use his new powers to help others, forming a private investigation and security team with three of his former teammates (Suicide, Brick Wall, and Dasher) and his wife, Darlene, for both altruistic reasons and "tax advantages".
